Commentary
-
The information in the wall newspaper might indicate that, first, the contents in this “newspaper on the wall” paid attention to both domestic and international affairs; second, the year that this Chinese-language newspaper was published could be 1940 since Chamberlain resigned in May 1940 (Cruz Wenhao Guan).

Title: The 壁報 in the middle refers to “newspapers on walls.” Reading from the right to the left, it says: 新運縂會婦女指委會, which is the abbreviated name of 新生活運動促進總會婦女指導委員會 (The Committee of Guiding Women-Related Affairs under the New Life Movement Promotion Association). The last five characters probably refer to the local subordinate association to the 新運縂會婦女指委會. At right, it says: 第六期 – Volume 6, 五月廿六日 – May 26th.
In the upper right below the title: The circled characters are 戰況 "war situation." Then, 的夢想, which means “destroying the dream that guizi 鬼子 (the derogatory terms refers to Imperial Japanese Army) wanted to control the Beiping-Hankow railway.” Beiping 北平 was Beijing’s name between 1927 and 1949.
On the bottom right, beginning from the right side, 捉漢奸 can be understood literally as “catching Han [Chinese] traitors [who were cooperating with Japanese invaders].” In the middle of that panel, the red characters on the right side are 張伯倫下台, which introduces Neville Chamberlain’s resignation in May 1940.
