Caption
West China, Szechuan, Chengtu. Baby pandas captured in the mountains of western Szechuan and kept for some months on the campus of the West China Union University until there was an opportunity to ship them to the States.

Description
The baby panda Pandora is seen on top of the tiled roof of a missionary house on the WCUU campus. This is probably the home of Frank Dickinson where Pandora lived on "Canadian Row" for two or three weeks in May and June of 1938.
Commentary
A different print of the same image is in the United Church of Canada Archives. The writing on the back of the UCCA version is reproduced here as the Caption. However, this photo depicts Pandora, who lived on campus only one month.
