Houseboats Beached on Shore Near Cliff
Caption
17. This is a picture of our fleet coming down in 1911. This was taken where the Japanese lost his $1200. We stopped here while they went up to the city to try and get it, but of course did not succeed. Notice the flags of different nationalities also the boats with the matting covers. These are not as comfortable as the houseboat, but swifter. The houseboats are further up and do not show up clearly. This was taken at Kiatang, not where the $1200 was taken. [This last sentence appears to be an afterthought, and I'm not sure it is correct. The pagoda doesn't look right for the one at Leshan. CW]

Description
Many houseboats are beached on a shore with a large looming cliff behind. Many people stand near the boats and on the shore. Some of the boats have flags, including one American one. The same location as in AEJ_12.
