18. Scene opposite us for which we took coming up river. Note the pagoda (right side) and on the other side steps lead up to the little house you see built in the rock. The steps were hewn out of the rocks We were tied up for half a day close to this boat you see in the picture. [The sentence for the AEJ_14 caption that identifies the location as Leshan appears to be an afterthought, and I'm not sure it is correct. The pagoda doesn't look right for the one at Leshan. CW]

In lower right corner of the image is a houseboat on the very calm waters of a very narrow portion or branch of the Yangtze River. In the background is a rocky shore and steep cliff with an elevated building on the left and a pagoda on the peek in the upper right. The same location as in AEJ_14.
