Commentary: The Chin Rapids were within the Xiling Gorge, the first of the three gorges when traveling west, just above Yichang. This could have been taken in 1910 when Alice Estabrook journeyed to Sichuan, or in 1913 when E. Kyle Simpson traveled there.
