Commentary

Probably Shanghai, based on its placement in the album, the type of store which was common in Shanghai, and the fact that male missionaries almost invariably purchased suits from Shanghai tailors on their way to their mission field in Sichuan. Although we don't know if E. Kyle Simpson shopped at this store, a biography published in his hometown paper states, "In 1913 it was a three week trip from Vancouver to Shanghai by CPR steamer. There Kyle Simpson bought Chinese dictionaries and needed articles."
