Don Willmott's face is blurred by the bright sunlight coming through the window of the Douglas C-54 Skymaster that is transporting him from Kunming to Calcutta.
Commentary
When the war ended, almost all US troops were flown out of China from Kunming to Calcutta, where they waited for a steamer to take them to New York. He didn't know it at the time, but this was the last time Don Willmott was in China until 1978.
