Both wear winter clothes in the freezing temperatures, Isabelle in a sporty jodhpur ensemble, David is a woolen snow suit. Trucks can be seen next to the plane in the background.

Commentary

The Stinsons were travelling back from furlough after the end of WWII when former Airforce planes, such as this Curtiss C-46 Commando, were repurposed for civilian travel. This plane was probably used to fly over "The Hump" in the Himalayas during the war, and may not have been serviced since then.
