Commentary
-
Earl and Katharine Willmott visited the Chongqing Zoo's panda enclosure during their 1975 trip to China. Then called Xiqu Park, this zoo cared for the largest captive panda population in the world at that time. Ice was used to keep the pandas cool in the hot humid climate of Chongqing. To make an ice surface like that would have been part of the recent zoo renovations.
