Description
This Event compiles color slides taken by Earl Willmott on his 1975 trip to China with his wife Katharine hosted by the People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
Commentary
Earl and Katharine Willmott visited the PRC from April 9th to May 2nd, 1975, as guests of the People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. They visited Beijing, then flew to Chengdu, where Katharine was hospitalized with a respiratory ailment. While she was there, Earl travelled to Renshou. From Chengdu, the couple traveled to Chongqing where they visited the Xiqu Park, which cared for the largest captive panda population in the world at that time. They then took a steamer down the Yangtze River to Yichang, from which they flew to Shanghai, the last stop on their trip.
