Commentary
-
This is taken at the same time and place as the Johns family portrait (Johns Family on Porch). Martin Johns recalls: "Mother and Dad's best friends, the Abreys, lost their two children within a few days from typhoid and my Father had to arrange their burial. The elder one would have been a few months older than I and I remember going with Dad to put flowers on their common grave when I was six or seven." However, compare caption with that of "The Abrey and Johns Families Outdoors." If Dorothy died in 1915, she wouldn't be alive to be photographed in 1917. Perhaps there was another Abrey child that died.
