A Chinese man stands posing in front of a huge waterwheel used to move water into terraced fields. Another waterwheel can be seen to the left behind him. The entire Chengdu Plain was provided with water by the Dujiangyan waterworks, using such waterwheels, large and small, to push the water into the fields.
