Part of a Wedding Procession. Coming up our Jenshow house front walk. The girl was to marry Soper's cook. He never saw her till she got out of the sedan chair. Presents - bed curtains. The only presents are those exchanged between bride and groom.

Two men carry a portion of the bride's dowry, an embroidered bed curtain with a wooden frame. The decorative side panels of the frame are hanging horizontally at the bottom of the load. The hills surrounding Renshou can be seen in the background.

In traditional Chinese weddings, the bride brings a dowry from her birth family, typically including blue and white cross-stitch embroidered household linens (actually home-produced cotton or ramie) and furniture.
