Jenshow: (now Renshou) from the hill on which foreigners have their buildings. A corner of Mr. McAmmonds’ compound will show to the left. About the centre of the picture notice the steps leading up to the dwellings. Mr. & Mrs. Elson live in a Chinese house somewhere near where I have marked the cross on the left. Notice the pagoda across on the hill. Chinese roofs are all made of tile.
