Description
-
A group of people, mostly men and one child, stand before a pile of stones on the Min Diversion bed. An unidentified Westerner and a Chinese soldier hold flags. A man on the other side of the pile holds a bow. They are likely measuring the height of the stone pile to ensure the river bed has been cleared to Li Bing's specifications. Originally, Bing had created stone statues to mark these depths, but those were long gone by the 20th century.
