Commentary
-
The Stinsons and Allens were travelling into Sichuan after the Japan had taken Shanghai. Travel up the Yangtze River was blocked off, so missionaries took alternative routes. On this occasion, Stewart Allen and John Stinson were seeing off Isabelle Stinson, Win Allen and the three Allen children, who were flying from Hong Kong to Chongqing, while the men took the Burma Road to accompany five trucks of luggage and mission supplies.
