- Mrs. Alice Bateman (wife of Rev. Wm. Bateman) is seated with her newborn baby (Aileen Hartley) on her lap and small daughter Dorothy at her side. Aileen died going upriver to Sichuan, while Alice died at Mt. Emei in 1913.
