Dr. Robert Ewan was one of the earliest missionaries sent to West China by the Canadian Methodist Mission. He was the primary builder of the CMM hospital in Chengdu. He and his wife, Sarah Jane, served the mission from 1897 to 1912. They returned to North America during the 1911 Republican Revolution and did not return due to Ewan's ill health.
